What Clear Quartz is

Clear quartz is the most common crystal on earth and the one most cultures have folklore for. Dadi called it the master healer and kept a raw cluster by her reading lamp, holding it for a moment whenever a decision felt heavy.

What people use it for

It is used for mental clarity, steady focus and starting something fresh. It is also an amplifier: sit it beside another stone and it is said to lift whatever that stone is doing, which makes it a good all-purpose first crystal. Keep a cluster on a desk or a shared shelf, or carry a tumbled point in a pocket.

How to tell a real one

Natural quartz almost always carries something inside (a faint veil, a hairline, a small internal cloud) and stays cool to the touch even in a warm room. Glass is flawlessly clear, warms quickly in the hand, and often hides round bubbles.

How to cleanse and charge it

Cool water and a soft cloth are enough. Once a month, leave it out overnight in the moonlight, or rest it on selenite. Quartz is hardy, so there is no special fuss; just keep the points from knocks that can chip them.

How to use it

A cluster radiates into a room; a point or a polished tower directs attention to one spot: a desk, an altar, a windowsill. Place a point beside another crystal to work with them together. In Vastu, clear quartz suits almost any direction, which is part of why it is kept so widely.
